Hollywood hosted the 86th Annual Academy Awards on March 2, 2014. Without a doubt, the red carpet of the Oscars is the most highly anticipated and watched showcase of fashion all year. With nearly 44 million viewers, it was the most watched Oscar ceremony in 14 years.

Let us take a look at what Hollywood’s most celebrated stars wore that night:

Lupita Nyong’o

Not surprisingly, the absolute belle of the Oscars was Lupita Nyong’o. The winner of the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in "12 Years a Slave” (which won the coveted Best Picture award) wore a flowing Prada sky blue gown. The dress featured pleats running from the top to the bottom, with a metallic touch at the tip of each pleat. The seductive allure of the deep plunge neckline was perfectly balanced with the innocent touch of the headband. She wore a wrap around gold bracelet on her right hand, and incorporated mint green nail polish on her fingertips. She is a fashion maven to keep an eye on.

Jennifer Lawrence

America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Lawrence, yet again proves her sound fashion taste on the red carpet. Choosing Dior for a second year in a row, the Best Supporting Actress nominee wore a strapless red column dress. The sides featured gathered peplum. She wore a necklace that dangled down her back and paired with a silver box clutch. Her best accessory? Her best friend Laura Simpson who was her plus one to the event. All that encouragement may have helped calm J. Law’s nerves, but it didn’t stop her from tripping on the red carpet. Maybe next year Jennifer will be able to stay on her feet.

Meryl Streep

Deservedly so, Meryl Streep is the most Oscar nominated actress of all time. This year, while walking down the red carpet to yet another nomination for her role in "Osage County, ” the iconic actress wore a Lanvin gown. The draped white bodice of the top fell elegantly across one shoulder. The long black skirt hugged her curves just enough, and gave her a regal allure. But to be honest – Meryl could get away with anything on the red carpet!

Cate Blanchett

The best look of the evening goes to Cate Blanchett – the winner of the Best Actress award for her role in "Blue Jasmine.” Cate has a way of appearing goddess like, in a completely unconventional way. Her stunning nude Armani dress featured beautiful crepe-like baubles. Her look was light, yet daring. She paired with chandelier earrings and vintage Hollywood hair.

That’s the fashion scoop for this week. Got a thought? Trend? Style you hate? Send it my way.
