Isonga, Sunrise continue to shine in Div2

Sunrise maintained a firm grip on top in Group A in the second division football league after beating Sorwathe 3-1 on Sunday in Rwamagana.

However Isonga missed the chance to close the gap after being held by Intare on Saturday.

The Rwamagana-based side now leads the Pool with 35 points, seven clear of second and third-placed Isonga and Rwamagana City respectively. Sorwathe and Vision Jeunesse are fourth and fifth respectively with 27 points each.

Rwamagana City beat Gasabo 2-0, Vision lost 1-0 at home to Vision Jeunesse, while Kirehe FC gathered all three points without dropping a sweat after their would-be opponents, Akagera FC did not show up for the match.

In Pool B, Bugesera FC thrashed Kicukiro-based ASPOR 7-0 on Saturday at the Kicukiro ground, SEC Academy beat table leaders Interforce2-1, Pepiniere won 1-0 against University of Rwanda- College of Arts and Social Sciences (formerly NUR), while United Stars beat Etoile de l’Est 2-0.

Interforce and SEC Academy have 26 points each at the top of the table, while Bugesera’s win over ASPOR moved them to third with 23 and Unity FC are fourth with 20 points.
