Police in Nyabihu District have recovered nine computers stolen last week from Groupe Scolaire Kabatwa laboratory. Three people have been arrested in connection with the theft.

The computers were recovered in an abandoned residential house in Basumba cell, Bigogwe sector after a tip-off from residents.

Robbers accessed the laboratory on Wednesday night after breaking the door. School authorities said the incident happened past mid-night. Two of the suspects are security guards at the school.

According to investigations, the two guards, who are normally stationed at the computer laboratory, had abandoned their posts at the time of the incident.

Chief Supt. Francis Gahima, the Western Region Police Spokesperson, said the recovery followed information provided by local residents who saw suspicious people in the abandoned house where they were recovered.

"We acted on credible information provided by the public and recovered the computers,” Gahima, who lauded the partnership with the public, said.

He added that investigations were still ongoing to apprehend all connected to the burglary.

He appealed to the population to continue providing timely information to security organs about anything suspicious or security threat in their communities.
