The national junior basketball team leaves today by road to Kampala, Uganda for the Zone V championship scheduled for August 10-16.
The delegation which is headed by the local basketball federation president Fidel Rutagarama comprises 12 players and six officials.
The players include; Deo Nkurikiyinka, Elibo Muhiire, Emmanuel Tabara, Francis Gahukanyi, Teo Tim Murihira, Juma Gatete, Ivan Ngirabakunzi, Crispus Gishoma, Fiston Muhiire, Olivier Muhiire, Lionel Hakizimana and Daniel Kirenga.
While the officials include Veceslav Kavidjija (head coach), Erick Kalimba and Prosper Mihigo (assistants), a team doctor whose identity was yet to be disclosed by press time and the federation secretary general Jean Lucien Mugabo, who’s traveling as the team manager.
The week-long tournament is expected to attracted teams from all Zone V member countries including Tanzania, Kenya, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan and Egypt, Rwanda and the hosts Uganda.
