Rwanda national men’s volleyball team star Flavier Ndamukunda is in talks with APR with a view to join them for a second spell.

Ndamukunda was part of the national team that finished third behind Cameroon and Algeria at the final round of 2014 FIVB World Championships qualifiers in Yaounde last month.

Ndamukunda, who was released by INATEK (Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education) at the end of last season on disciplinary grounds, is expected to sign for the military side this weekend, according to APR’s Kenyan coach Sammy Mulinge.

"We are in advanced talks with the player and so far so good, if nothing changes he could sign for us this weekend. For the good of both the club and himself, we would give a one-year contract,” he said on Friday.

He added, "APR a relatively younger team, with majority of the players coming from the junior team, who still need time to develop their talent and by signing Flavier Ndamukunda, we believes the younger players can learn a lot from his experience.”

Ndamukunda’s arrival at the club coincides with the departure of several senior players like Athanase Bigirimana, Fred Mosoni, and Alexis Ntakirutimana, who crossed to newly formed Rayon Sports VC.

APR are considered league title favorites along with Rayon sports, INATEK and Kigali volleyball club (KVC).

Ndamukunda previously featured for Petit Seminaire Virgo Fidelis Karubanda, GSO Butare, KVC, APR, Lycee de Nyanza, Algerian league side Al Mahia and INATEK.
