Turbo King National Football league title hopefuls APR surged to the top of the table after registering a slim 1-0 win over strugglers Mukura VS yesterday at Stade de Kigali.

Striker Isaie Isonga scored the lone goal of the game in the second half after benefitting from a defensive blunder by Rodrique Mazuru to chip a low ball past goalie Regis Shyaka.

The win takes the military side on top of the table with 46 points, three points ahead of defending champions Rayon Sports, who play sixth-placed Espoir this afternoon at Stade de Kigali.

Elsewhere, Police FC moved to fourth position with 34 points after grabbing a 2-0 win over Etincelles away at Umuganda stadium. Jerome Sina and Moussa Mutuyimana were on target as Sam Ssimbwa team recorded their 10th win of the season.

In Nyamagabe, AS Muhanga registered their third win of the season following a 2-0 win over hosts Amagaju, who remain at the bottom of the table with seven rounds of matches remaining.

The win for Ali Bizimungu’s side moved them to 10th position with 14 points, four points better than relegation-threatened Amagaju.

League action continues this afternoon as Rayon Sports face Espoir, who enjoy the second meanest defensive record in the league.

Rayon Sports won the corresponding fixture 2-1 and will be looking to complete a double over Emmanuel Ruremesha’s team that has lots just twice this season.

Rayon coach Luc Eymael will be without creative midfielder-cum striker Cedric Amissi and inured right back Karim Nizigiyimana.

In the absence of talisman Amissi, who has scored 9 league goals, Eymeal will look at 8-goal hero Meddie Kagere and Papy Kamanzi in search for goals.

Meanwhile, Ruremesha’s side will be without experienced defender Aimable Rucogoza.
