Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda today launched the East African single tourist visa at the annual Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) exhibition, currently taking place in Berlin, Germany.

The new $100-visa will allow tourists to visit Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda without paying additional charges.

According to the three countries' tourism officials, this will help to effectively market the region as a single tourist destination.

Amb. Valentine Rugwabiza, Rwanda Development Board's Chief Executive Officer, said the project would help boost and attract more visitors to the region.

"We have already felt its positive impact. With this partnership, our unique selling point as a region is highlighted as we have a wide range of experiences to offer,” she added.

She described the launch as a huge milestone in the regional integration.

Before the establishment of the single entry visa, each country charged its own fee.
