Rotary Club de Kigali on March 1st joined other Rotary Clubs around the World in making 109 years of operation.The celebration took place during a Gala Night at Kigali Serena Hotel and attracted members of the five Rotary Clubs of Rwanda that include Rotary Club de Kigali, Rotary Club de Butare, Rotary Club Kigali-Mont Jali, Rotary Club Kigali-Virunga and Rotary Club Kigali-Gasabo.
During this Gala Night 2014 in which various activities were organized to raise funds for social assistance programs, Rotary Club de Kigali vowed to contribute Rwf 20 million to support needy families by providing them with Health care, Education facilities and clean Water.
The Gala was graced by Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Hon. Domitille Mukabalisa as Guest of Honour while Speaker of Senate Hon. Dr. Jean Damascene Ntawukuliryayo attended the Gala as Honorary Member of "Rotary Club de Kigali”.
In his speech, the President of Rotary Club de Kigali, Ngamije Lambert, reminded the members to take on their responsibilities in line of the mission of the Rotary International. "The fundamental values that have been the basis of the birth of Rotary International is friendship, respect for others, tolerance and fellowship”, he says.
Ngamije said that "Rotary Club de Kigali” works hard to ameliorate living conditions among citizens while at the same time addressing some of the major challenges of humanity such as Polio.He said that "Rotary Club de Kigali” is contributing to supporting the population in various field.
Among others, he pointed out the support provided in the field of education for the most vulnerable, sponsoring surgical operations and offering free plastic surgery and artificial limbs as well as supporting Genocide survivors.
