Fourteen more Rwanda Police officers, on Thursday night, left for a one-year peacekeeping mission under the United Nations Operation in Ivory Coast.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, Dan Munyuza, during a pre-deployment briefing, challenged the officers to uphold discipline, exhibit high level of zeal and professionalism on their duties.

Munyuza told the officers to be good ambassadors and raise the Rwanda flag high.

He also urged them to partner with Police Officers from other countries to help restore peace in Ivory Coast.

The contingent brings the number of Rwanda Police peacekeepers in the West African nation to 29.

The officers work as mentors and advisors to the Ivory Coast Police force.

Rwanda National Police maintains about 550 officers in eight peacekeeping missions around the world.

The missions are Haiti, Darfur, South Sudan, Abyei, Liberia, Mali, Guinea Bissau and Ivory Coast.
