Lately the weather has been somewhat gloomy with showers and cold throughout the day. The weather has made it easy to get away with a shady dress sense in the name of trying to stay warm. Below are a few commonly spotted fashion mishaps that are increasingly becoming common with men. The cold should not be an excuse to:

•Wear brightly coloured sweatshirts over formal wear. It is a common sight to find miss matched outfits during the cold season.   I just spotted a guy in sharp formal wear but in the name of keeping the cold away, he has an orange sweatshirt with an American state printed on it.

Yes it is cold but no, we cannot throw on any outfit.

•Wear heavy football socks over formal wear. During this period, some people have cold feet that threaten to keep them up at night. So some end up wearing heavy football socks under a suit or formal wear, which makes them look like full time comedians.

No matter how cold it gets, socks should be dull and of a single colour.

•Inappropriately blend formal wear and casual wear. It is understandable that jeans are warmer than dress pants, but that should not be an excuse to inappropriately blend them with formal wear.

•Wear only casual wear to the office or wearing two pairs of pants. Jeans, khakis and sweat pants are known to be warmer than formal wear. But that doesn’t mean that dress pants should not see the light of day during the cold season. There is always a way to wear dress pants during the cold season but never over sweat pants.

•Wear only boots and heavy sneakers. Despite the temperatures consider a pair of loafers once in a while, it is not like they are open shoes.

Lastly the cold should not be an excuse to not take a shower, nothing should.
