Nyagatare—The Mayor of Ngoma district in eastern province, Francis Niyotwagira has requested Party Socialist du Democratique (PSD) to reform the party from grassroots to the provincial level.

PSD held elections at EPR hall to elect party representatives in several districts. The mayor was elected as district party president.

He is deputised by Appolinaire Mukakigeli, Secretary Gabriel Nsengiyunva and Jean de Mascene Sibomana scooped the in-charge of the economy and development commissioner. Pauline Musabyimana was elected social affairs commissioner.

The district party members also elected the disciplinary committee headed by Jacqueline Uwiringiye. She is assisted by Jeamvaliane Itangashaka and Francis Muhire.

Niyotwagira hailed party members for putting trust in him by electing him.

"As members of a party determined to deepen the culture of democracy in the Rwandan society, we have a role to abide by the constitution and always try to maintain good relations with other political parties and also respect the leadership of this country as the party is working towards maintaining democracy in this country,” Niyotwagira said.

During the elections the supervisor and facilitator Deputy Juvenile Nkusi who is also a senior member of PSD urged party members to abide by the law.

"The history of our country was characterised by poor politics; we have a chance this time to make a change with unity, peace and reconciliation among Rwandans,” Nkusi said.
