League new entrants Rayon Sports volleyball club have signed national team pair of Pierre Marshal Kwizera and Olivier Ntagengwa for a two-year deal each.
Twenty-seven year-old Kwizera (centre) was signed from Inatek while 23 year-old right attacker Ntagengwa was recruited from the former National University of Rwanda (now part of University of Rwanda) side.
The duo was part of Rwanda Men’s team that recently narrowly missed out on a ticket to this year’s Poland World volleyball championships. Head coach Fidele ‘Fidjo’ Nyirimana, who guided the University of Rwanda to the 2013 league title, confirmed the development yesterday.
"It is true we have signed the pair in a bid to strengthen our team ahead of the new season. We have a strong squad now, comprised of talented young players and we believe we are in good shape to compete for honours,” added Nyirimana.
The club also completed the signing of left attacker Evode Munyandinda, setter Theogene Tuyishime, right attacker Eric ‘Machine’ Nsabimana and centre Guillaume Irakarama, all from National University of Rwanda.
The Nyanza-based side has also signed left attacker Athanase Bigirimana, centre Fred Musoni and libero Alexis ‘Debande’ Ntakirutimana, all from APR, while other buys include two youthful players, right attacker Nelson Murangwa and Ivan Nsabimana Mahoro, from Group Scolaire de Butare.
