Four held over cattle theft

Nyagatare—Police in Nyagatare are holding four men for stealing a Friesian cow belonging to John Baptist Ntabigwira, a resident of Gakirage cell in Nyagatare sector.

The culprits were caught while slaughtering the cow in Gatunda sector.

The suspects include one ex-soldier Emmanuel Mukunzi, who was arrested with Celevian Sikubwabo, Appolineal Safari and Dominic Mbabariye all detained at Nyagatare police station.

Authorities suspect that the cow was stolen from Gakirage cell, Nyagatare sector and then taken in Gatunda sector to be slaughtered and then be sold on the a black market.

"I am ready to pay back the cow to the owner because we were caught red handed,” Mukunzi admitted.

‘I spent a lot of money on my Friesian but these evil men just wake up one morning and stole it. It was my long term investment. I am happy they have been arrested, I hope they will pay back,” Ntabigwira said.

The Chief inspector of Police Nyagatare Damien Gasana confirmed the arrest and said that the police are working on their dossier and that they would be handed to the prosecutions soon.
