Caf, UEFA sign deal

Ferwafa and other regional football associations will be the biggest beneficiaries of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Caf and their European counterparts (UEFA) yesterday at the Caf headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

As revealed on the Caf official site, the deal was signed by Confederation of African Football and Union of European Football Associations presidents Issa Hayatou and Michel Platini respectively.

 Development of football in Africa

The deal is meant to enhance mutual co-operation between the two confederations on development of football in Africa and Europe by providing a framework for exchange and dialogue.

This will be achieved through sharing of information, experience and conducting joint technical development programmes  in various fields such as coaching, refereeing, youth and women football, organisation of competitions, administration, marketing, media and social responsibilities.

 Valid till July

Countries set to benefit from the MoU deal valid till July 31 2015 are Tanzania, Somalia, Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Eritrea, Djibout and Zanzibar.
