FIFA President Joseph Sepp Blatter will be among international renowned sports icons that will be in the country for the 20th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi set for April 6, Rwanda Football Federation has confirmed. The development was confirmed by the Rwanda football federation president Vincent Degaule Nzamwita on Tuesday.
FIFA President Joseph Sepp Blatter will be among international renowned sports icons that will be in the country for the 20th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi set for April 6, Rwanda Football Federation has confirmed. The development was confirmed by the Rwanda football federation president Vincent Degaule Nzamwita on Tuesday.
According to Nzamwita, Blatter will be accompanied by FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke, FIFA’s Director of Member Associations and Development Division, Thierry Hegenass, and CAF president Issa Hayatou.
Blatter will be making his second visit to Rwanda since 2005 when he came for the official launch of the Ferwafa football academy, which nurtured Rwanda’s U-17 team that took part in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup held in Mexico.
