AS KIGALI skipper Jimmy Mbaraga is hopeful that the City of Kigali-sponsored team will prevail over Burundi’s Academie Tchite in their Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round return leg tie in Bujumbura on Sunday.

Rwanda’s representatives started their campaign on a positive note with a well earned 1-0 in the first leg played last weekend at Stade de Kigali. The Rwandan Peace Cup winners got their winning goal through striker Bodo Ndikumana.

"We should have scored more goals because that was our target before the match. To be honest, 1-0 is very tight but the most important thing is that we never conceded a goal. It was our strategy from the onset to ensure we do not concede a goal,” said Mbaraga before the team’s departure yesterday.

The promising striker insists AS Kigali is not going to Bujumbura to defend the slim advantage but will instead play an attacking game.

"Of course they will open up the game knowing they must score, which will be to our advantage because we are also going there to try and score. Hopefully we can keep the clean sheet as well.”

Andre Gasambungo’s team will go into Sunday’s game knowing a draw is enough to see them through to the first round to face Alhly Shandy of Sudan.
