NYARUGENGE - Major General Kuol Deim Kuol, the head of the visiting delegation of Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), has said that Rwanda’s tourism sector is a success story.

Kuol Deim was speaking to journalists last week after a brief presentation on Rwanda’s tourism sector at Mille Collines Hotel.

On behalf of the delegation he led, he said that they had learned a lot on conservation from ORTPN.

"We are here on a military mission but we are going to use what we have learnt here and sensitise our community in Sudan on wildlife conservation,” he said.

Kuol Deim added that Sudan is a country with beautiful natural resources that can attract tourists, but needs government intervention on sensitising the community.

The main purpose of SPLA’s visit to Rwanda was to gain experience of how Rwanda managed to transform its army from a guerrilla force into a professional army.

Kuol Deim also said that SPLA had deployed teams in different African countries for similar study tours.

The SPLA delegation also visited Rwanda National Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission, Rwanda National Unity and Reconciliation Commission, Military Medical Insurance (MMI) and Zigama Credit and Savings Scheme (CSS).

The nine-man delegation from SPLA completed their week-long tour of the country last Friday.
