AFTER weeks of navigating the countryside in search for the finalists for the Miss Rwanda 2014 beauty pageant, the search has now moved to Kigali.
Tomorrow Kigali will host pre-selections to pick three representatives who will take part in the finals of Miss Rwanda on February 22 at Amahoro Stadium in Remera. The winner will replace the reigning Miss Rwanda, Aurore Mutesi Kayibanda, who has held the title since 2012.
The event that will start at 5pm will also feature performances by Salax Awards nominees Bruce Melody and Active Boys with entrance free of charge.
Sandra Teta, the organising committee spokesperson, said registration will close on Saturday at 10 am.
"Registration is still open. Those willing to take part can register online through the Miss Rwanda 2014 website or at the Rwanda Inspiration Back up Ltd offices and the Cogebanque offices in Kisimenti. One can also register at the venue on the morning of the auditions. So far we have about 20 applicants,” Teta said.
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible: You must be a Rwandan citizen aged between 18 – 24 years, at least 1.7 metres tall, must have a good moral standing and should have good public speaking skills.
Over the past weeks, the organisers of the pageant and a section of entertainers have been to various provinces for the pre-selection of contestants.
All the finalists will head to boot camp scheduled for February 11 at La Palisse Gashora in Bugesera.
