GATSIBO — A 22-year old woman has been admitted at Kizuguro health center, Gatsibo district after being burnt by acid.

Alice Mukamabano was allegedly burnt by her former boy friend Moses Mwamutsa, 27, last Wednesday at about 9 pm.

Sources said the incident happened four days after the girl announced an end to their four-year old relationship.
The area police are still hunting for the suspect.

Sources allege that Mwamutsa connived with other assailants to arrange a friendly meeting with the girl. But after the meeting they splashed acid in her face and left her screaming helpless until she became unconscious.

The victim was picked and taken  to the health centre.
According to area residents, the victim had promised to marry the boy and ending the relationship was seen as betrayal. Apparently she had postponed the marriage in order to complete high school studies at Kizuguro Secondary School.

"I didn’t know that Moses could destroy my face to such an extent,” the girl said with tears flowing. "My Lord if I had disappointed Moses that has caused me unbearable impact, forgive me,” she added on her bed.

Talking to police, she admitted disappointing the boy.
Meanwhile, the police briefly held Ndoli Asiimwe, a close friend to the two, for interrogation. In the police statement however, Asiimwe denied knowledge of the attack.
