One should choose subjects they pass best at Ou2019level. /Education Times/Internet photo

To a student who is done with his/her Ordinary Level and plans to join Advanced Level, getting a combination of the subjects to study is no walk in the park.

The majority of students opt for subjects they have studied before and probably passed well. However, after attending a few lessons, some students start to complain that certain subjects are difficult to comprehend and ask to change combination. This means the students were misguided by their peers, teachers or parents.

I remember when we were choosing our combinations, some students would ask their colleagues to choose for them combinations, while others went with the majority or prestige attached to subject combinations. Joshua, a friend of mine, for instance opted for sciences to please his family despite being better at arts. And he really struggled at A’level.

However, it’s always good to think about your future career and choose your combination wisely. It doesn’t matter whether your whole family studied for one profession or what your friends are saying. In my opinion, that’s not how to choose your combination.

It is better to choose something you love and have the ability to pass well. And when you love something, you will always enjoy class and reading deeper. Remember the combination you choose today will have an influence on your future. I don’t want you to regret.
