Kabanda, who has been featuring for Ligue 2 side AS Nancy Lorraine, joined Thaon in bid to get ample playing time as he positions himself for a new club in the summer transfer window.
The midfielder was part of the national U-17 team which took part in the 2011 Fifa World Cup held in Mexico.
He is also in coach Richard Tardy’s plans for the Under-20 national team which is preparing for the 2015 Africa Youth Championship qualifiers due to start in March.
Rwanda U-20 team will face South Sudan in the qualifying first round of the road to 2015 Senegal Africa Youth Championship finals.
Rwanda will be away in the first leg on the weekend of April 4-6 before hosting the return leg in Kigali on the weekend of April 25-27.
Richard Tardy’s team, if they progress to the second round, will come up against tougher opposition in Gabon in May and should they win, they will face the winner between Sierra Leone/Guinea and Ghana in the final round.
Last year, the junior wasps failed to go past the first round, losing 4-2 to Mali.
