This year’s national Heroes Day handball tournament is scheduled for tomorrow and 14 teams have registered, according to Rwanda Handball Federation (Ferwahand) officials.

Eight men’s and six women’s teams are set to spice up the one-day competition, which will be played at  different playgrounds in Kigali namely; University of Rwanda- College of Education (formerly KIE) and Kimisagara youth sports center courts.

Gicumbi and ES Mukingi are the defending champions in the men and women’s categories.

However, due to financial constraints there will be no prize money for the winners of the tournament but they will be only awarded trophies and balls.

Registered teams

Men: APR, University of Rwanda- College of Arts and Social Cciences (NUR), University of Rwanda- College of Education (KIE), Police, Nyakabanda, ES Kigoma , Gicumbi and Rwamagana.

Women: ES Mukingi, UR- College of Education (KIE), UR- College of Arts and Social Sciences (NUR), GS APPEGA Gahengeri, GS Mwendo and APAPEG Cyuru.
