Fifty Police officers are undergoing a five-day training course in crime investigation at the Rwanda National Police Ethics Centre in Kacyiru. The training aims at enriching their knowledge and skills in criminal investigation.
It also equip participants with investigative skills, organisers said.
The trainees include District Judicial Police Officers (DJPOs) and Police Station Commanders.
They will go through crime scene management, forensic science, functioning and jurisdiction of criminal courts, how to conduct interviews and exhibit handling, among others.
The Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel Gasana, while giving a lecture to participants, yesterday, challenged them to always seek to know more, adding that the policing environment is changing, which requires police officers to always be "ahead and informed”.
He told them to be focused and understand their responsibilities, in order to meet the Force’s mission.
He also appealed to the officers to uphold discipline and desist from acts that might tarnish the good image and brand of the Force.
"Always lead by example and exhibit team spirit,” the IGP told the trainees.
