Nyamasheke District Council on August 28 dismissed Appolonie Mukamasabo from the position of mayor citing misconduct and failure to accomplish her duties.

Mukamasabo was elected district mayor in September 2019. Her dismissal followed a Prime Minister’s statement also terminating the Governor of Western Province, François Habitegeko, from his duties.
