Editor,

THIS IS with reference to the article, "SMEs need more support to flourish”, (The New Times, January 2).

‘Rwanda Calling 2014’, which was launched in Kigali this week, will help SMEs get the much needed international exposure.

As part of this programme, an International Business Forum was held in Kigali on January 27. The forum was attended by around 100 delegates drawn from Rwanda, Kenya, Dubai, Sultanate of Oman and Thailand.

The Indian Merchants’ Chamber, a premier Chamber of Commerce and Industry, invited the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) to meet and interact with SMEs and to make a presentation on the "Investment Opportunities in Rwanda”.

With such events, Rwandan SMEs will be able to strengthen their networking capabilities. This will not only boost exports, but will encourage foreign entrepreneurs to set up manufacturing facilities in the country, thereby increasing job opportunities.
