Cote d’Ivoire’s Bandama rally dates changed

THE opening round of the 2014 Africa Rally Championship, Rallye Bandama of Cote d’Ivoire, has been pushed forward by two weeks, according to African rally governing body CACMS.

2014 ARC Calendar Ivory Coast –March 14-16: Rallye Bandama Cote D’IvoireSouth Africa – April 11-12: Sasol Rally South AfricaZambia - May 16-18: Zambia International RallyTanzania- June 13-15: Rally of TanzaniaRwanda - July 18-20:  Rwanda Mountain Gorilla RallyUganda - August 15 – 17: Pearl of Africa Uganda RallyKenya - September 12-14:  KCB Safari Rally Kenya Madagascar - November 07-09: Madagascar International Rally THE opening round of the 2014 Africa Rally Championship, Rallye Bandama of Cote d’Ivoire, has been pushed forward by two weeks, according to African rally governing body CACMS.In a statement, CACMS said: "All ARC competitors are advised that the date of the 2014 Rallye Bandama Cote d’Ivoire has been changed due to a force majure and will now be held on March 14-16, and not March 1/2nd as originally planned.” Sasol Rally South Africa will hold the second round from April 11 to 12 before moving to Zambia from May 16 to 18.The Rwanda Mt. Gorilla rally, known as Fraternity rally in 2002, counts as the fifth round of the championship, will be held from July 18-20 as opposed to September. Other countries in which the ARC will crisscross are Tanzania, Kenya (Safari Rally) and Madagascar Rally which folds the curtains to the eight-leg ARC series.The driver and navigator champions for the ARC will be crowned at the FIA Annual Awards gala alongside the Formula 1, WRC and FIA regional rally champions.Last year’s continental competition was won by the Zambian crew of Jassy Singh and Dave Sihoka.Among the drivers who will be gearing up for the ARC challenge are this year’s runners-up Giancarlo Davite of Rwanda, Jas Mangat of Uganda and Essa Mohammed of Zambia.
