The RSE was early this month interlinked with other regional stock markets, a move that is aimed at easing transactions, Celestin Rwabukumba, the Rwanda Stock Exchange chief executive officer, said yesterday.

The stock market has three cross-listed firms, all Kenyan-based, which have faced challenges of low business because of the long time it took to transfer shares.

Rwabukumba said the inter-depository transfer mechanism now allows a shareholder to transfer their shares across the Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania stock exchanges with ease, attract more investors, save time and costs as the process now takes hours compared to the previous system, where it used to take up to three months.
