As Rwanda marks the 20th anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, this year's Walks to Remember will take place in 15 countries around the world, organisers announced today.

The countries include Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium and Rwanda.

Initiated in 2009 by members of Peace and Love Proclaimers (PLP), Walk to Remember is a yearly event designed to empower the youth of Rwanda and around the world to fight against genocide.

Preparatory memorial activities ahead of the April 7 commemoration event are ongoing, with a Remembrance Flame already on a tour of the country.
