Defending champions Rayon Sports beat Gicumbi FC 2-1 away on Sunday to close the gap on league leaders APR FC. APR had earlier on Saturday thumped Marines FC 3-0 away in Rubavu.Rwanda international striker Meddie Kagere gave the champion the  lead just on the stroke of half time and skipper Fuadi Ndayisenga made it 2-0 in the 58th minute, tapping in a rebound from close range after Cedric Amissi’s free kick came off the woodwork.Jemba Mbanga scored the consolation goal for Jean Baptiste Kayiranga’s newly promoted side with three minutes left on the clock.The win took the Blues to 31 points, two points behind archrivals APR, while moving three points ahead of third-placed AS Kigali, who kept pressure on the two top sides with a 1-0 win away to bottom side Amagaju FC on Saturday after 14 rounds of matches.Elsewhere on Sunday, sixth-placed SC Kiyovu humiliated Musanze 6-0 at Mumena stadium to move to 25 points, eight points behind APR.Muhadjili Hakizimana scored the opener just eight minutes into the game, Pekeyake Tuyisenge added the second in the 23rd minute and two minutes later, Ugandan striker Julius Bakkabulindi made it 3-0.However, Gilbert Yaounde Kanyankore’s men were not done as Burundian international midfielder Christian Mbirizi increased the score line in the 37th minute and Blaise Itangishaka added his name on the score sheet in the 72nd minute before Mbirizi completed the rout with his second score of the afternoon six minutes later.
