Officials of the City of Kigali, in partnership with the Rwanda National Police, have launched the 2014 six-month hygiene and security campaign.
Held at the police headquarters in Kacyiru, the launch under the theme; "hygiene and security” will see operations carried out in the city’s hotels, homes, street taverns, hospitals, and public sanitation areas.
The campaign, which is expected to end on June 16, 2014, will also focus on the safety of infrastructure such as roads and public offices.
The Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel Gasana, highlighted security and hygiene as complementary components of the country’s development, urging people to always be sensitive to both elements.
The Mayor of the City of Kigali (CoK), Fidele Ndayisaba, commended the police for continued efforts to ensure security and sanitation for the city and pledged prizes, that include vehicles, for the best performers.
"We hope that many people in the city will take this campaign with personal interest,” he said.
