AS PREPARATIONS for the 2014 Salax Awards get underway, big artistes have allegedly snubbed the annual music awards.Jay Polly, Alpha, Dream Boyz, Kitoko and Tom Close among others have reportedly distanced themselves from this year’s awards citing poor organisation and lack of transparency as the reason. The same artistes pulled out of the 2013 Salax Awards for the same reason.Ikirezi Group, the organisers say they gave the artistes who boycotted last year’s awards, a chance to request in writing to take part in this year’s edition but only Uncle Austin, real names Austin Luwano responded.Organisers have warned that artistes who will boycott this year’s edition will not be allowed to take part in any of the future competitions. However, some artistes The New Times talked to feigned ignorance over the said allegation that they refused to write to the organisers."They claim that they told us to write, requesting to participate in the event. But that is not true because no one has ever told me to write and I refused. Maybe they communicated to some but not all of us,” Jay Polly told The New Times.
