Burundian midfielder Eric Mbirizi is close to joining Gasogi United after reaching an agreement to play for the club on a one-year deal.

Mbirizi, 25, was released by Rayon Sports last week after just one season at the club due to his persistent injury struggles.

The central midfielder has been struggling with playing time at Rayon since he suffered an injury in the course of the 2022/23 season before moving to his native Burundi for advanced treatment.

However, the injury has been reoccurring and Rayon decided to release him.

Gasogi have showed interest in signing Mbirizi and negotiations has successfully ended with the player agreeing to sign a one-year deal with them in the coming days.

Mbirizi previously played for Stand United in Tanzania as well as Atletico Olympique, Bujumbura City and Le Messager Ngozi in Burundi.
