Kayitare elected Mufti of Rwanda
Sheikh Ibrahim Kayitare, who's been leading Rwanda's Muslim community during the six-month interim following the resignation of Abdul Karim Gahutu by the Rwanda Muslims Association's Supreme Council in July 2013, was on Sunday elected the Mufti of Rwanda.

Sheikh Ibrahim Kayitare, who's been leading Rwanda's Muslim community during the six-month interim following the resignation of Abdul Karim Gahutu by the Rwanda Muslims Association's Supreme Council in July 2013, was on Sunday elected the Mufti of Rwanda.
This was during an extraordinary Supreme Council meeting in Kigali. Mufti Kayitare will lead the community for the remaining two and half years, left by the former Mufti. The term is usually five years.
