Three eye women national team head coach job

AS KIGALI women football team coach Grace Nyinawumuntu, Kicukiro Center’s Anne Mbonimpa and former Les Lionnes coach Seraphine Munyana are the three candidates vying for the role of national women’s team head coach.Rwanda faces a tall order when they face Kenya in the first round of the 2014 CAF Africa Women’s Championship qualifiers on the weekend of February 13-15.The winner after the two legs will proceed to the next round to play the winner of the Nigeria/Sierra Leone fixture in preparation for the finals which will be held in Namibia from October 15-25.According to  Felecite Rwemalika, the head of women football at Ferwafa, the team will start training later this month after selection of the head coach."There are three candidates who submitted their applications for the post and the interviews are underway.  The winner will be announced any time next week.” We are doing everything possible to choose the right coach and her technical staff. The national team has got almost everything in place to start business soon as possible,” Rwemarika said,The national women’s league was formed in 2008 and Rwanda remains the only country in the region with a viable league, but it still faces an avalanche of challenges related to funding of the clubs with most of its funding coming from FIFA.Rwanda’s last competitive game was in 2009 against Uganda in the preliminary round of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers which they lost 1-0 at the Regional stadium in Nyamirambo.
