Cycling federation general elections for Jan. 26

RWANDA CYCLING Federation (Ferwacy) will elect the new executive committee for a four year term on January 26, the federation Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Murenzi has confirmed.

RWANDA CYCLING Federation (Ferwacy) will elect the new executive committee for a four year term on January 26, the federation Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Murenzi has confirmed.The positions that will be contested for include; the president, two vices presidents, secretary general, treasure, three advisors, three auditors, marketing commission, disciplinary and arbitration commission—potential candidates have until January 20 to submit their papers.This follows changes that were made recently in the Ferwacy constitution, which increased the number of years of term of office from three to four."The candidates who wish to contest for any of the posts can start submitting their applications for nominations before the deadline which is January 20,” Murenzi told Saturday Sport yesterday.Asked who is eligible to stand, he said, "Any member of the cycling fraternity can contest for the post as long as they have what is required, for instance, they should be from one of the local (cycling) teams fully registered with Ferwacy.” Incumbent chairman, Aimable Bayingana took  over the reign on December 26, 2010. He was acting chairman from December 2007 following the resignation of Charles Kamanda, who was elected as a Member of Parliament.Ferwacy is credited for being one of the most organised sports federations after transforming the annual prestigious Tour of Rwanda into an international event.Bayingana has managed to unite the local cycling fraternity by ensuring that the sport realises its enormous potential.
