French coach Didier Gomes da Rosa wants to bolster his squad in order to maintain the club's charge in the national league as well as the CAF Champions League campaign.
Mukumbiri, who has been based in Belgium but without a club is a son of former Rayon Sports player and national team coach, Longin Rudasingwa. He has been training with the Nyanza-based team in the last couple of days as the coach assesses him.
According to Rayon Sports Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya, whose side is in second position with 28 points, two points behind leaders APR, Mukubya will sign as soon as he arrives in the country on Saturday, Mukimbiri will continue to be assessed before a final decision is take.
Last year Mukubya featured for AS Kigali before returning home to Uganda when the City of Kigali sponsored team started to use only Rwandan players.
"We’ll try to improve the squad, seeing as we have four competitions to take part in," Gakwaya said, adding that they are in negotiations with other players.
Rayon Sports will be fighting to retain the national football league title; will also play in CAF Champions League, Peace Cup and Cecafa Kagame Cup.
They will begin their continental campaign in the second week of February – against the Republic of Congo’s AC Leopards in the preliminary round and the return leg will be played in Kigali a week later.
