Rwanda is set to host the two-day East Africa International Business Forum on Oct. 29 where international business leaders will discuss new investment opportunities in the region.

"This forum is a unique opportunity for us to meet potential investors from the Commonwealth which is a very big organization composed of both developed and developing countries. It has a pool of people we have always been targeting,” said Claire Akamanzi, the deputy director of the Rwanda Investment and Export Promotion Agency (RIEPA).

"It will also give us a chance to showcase our country to the investors here at home, since we have always traveled abroad looking for them.”

The conference will take place at the Serena Hotel in Kigali, with the theme "Trade and Investment Opportunities:

Growth through Global Partnerships.” It is co-hosted by the Commonwealth Business Council and the East African Business Council, along with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and the other four East African heads of state.

Maggie Kigozi, director of the Uganda Investment Authority, said this conference is "another great opportunity for our business people after the investment conference to meet potential business partners.” She said she would encourage Uganda’s business partners to attend the conference and take advantage of the networking opportunity.

Speakers and panelists at the Business Forum will include heads of government, ministers of finance, ministers of trade and development, chairs and chief executives of businesses, investment fund managers and other industry leaders.

In addition to the main plenary session the event will have specific investors’ roundtables covering issues such as power, transport, water, healthcare, ICT, mining, agro processing, telecommunications, oil and gas, education and tourism.
