STRUGGLING Mukura Victory Sports have released four players in order to create room for new signings during the January transfer window, the club Secretary General Olivier Murindahabi confirmed on Thursday.The four players deemed surplus to requirements by coach Cedric Kaze, include; striker Suleiman Mudeyi, attacking-midfielder Rashidi Kalisa, defensive-midfielder Ucece Kabemba and central defender Valentin Nkurunziza. The decision to get rid of the players was taken during the club’s General Assembly that sat on Monday. Mukura are currently in 9th position with 13 points in the 14-team league table.The Huye-based side are seeking for a way out of bottom half after having a relatively poor run in the first round where they won four, drew one and lost eight of their 13 league matches. "Yes, the four players were released. They will be given their release letters when they return from the festive break on Friday (yesterday),” Mulindahabi told this paper on Thursday.He added, "We need to make a few good signings this month to improve the team for the remaining part of the season. We have had a poor run over the last three months but we are working round the clock to give the coach the players he needs to move up the table.”Early this week, Mukura head coach Kaze threatened to resign if the team continues to struggle in the league.After Day 13 of the league, Mukura are 15 points behind defending champions Rayon Sports, who lead the standings with 28 points, one better than APR. AS Kigali are third with 26 points, while Police and Espoir FC come 4th and 5th with 24 points respectively.
