Let us face it; most parents today are never home. Both the husband and wife are working class and a child of five is basically left to the maid. We all know most maids didn’t go to school and it’s no secret that maids don’t always have the best behaviour. So, would you rather your child grows up around positively influential teachers and fellow students or a maid that utters vulgar words every minute and beats on the kid in your absence?
Let us face it; most parents today are never home. Both the husband and wife are working class and a child of five is basically left to the maid. We all know most maids didn’t go to school and it’s no secret that maids don’t always have the best behaviour. So, would you rather your child grows up around positively influential teachers and fellow students or a maid that utters vulgar words every minute and beats on the kid in your absence? The saying goes that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. A five-year-old is at the best age to learn a lot of new things, activities and traits. Due to the plenty of time a child has at school, they are engaged in a variety of sports and other activities that could later be useful and probably even turn out to be a future career. According to the USA Association of Boarding School, 60% of students enrolled in boarding schools attain both high standards of education and gain skills in extracurricular activities. A good number of children living in town today don’t even know their neighbours because of the closed fences that surround them. A child never learns how to interact with other children because their fixed schedules like, waking up at 6am go to school, coming back home in the evening or afternoon, doing homework and sleeping because the next day there is school again. On the other hand, a child in boarding school easily learns how to live with other children because the other students are all that is there - no mummy or daddy. Taking a five year old to boarding school is taking them to learn to be responsible individuals. It is like planting a seed on fertile soil. Unlike children in day school, children in boarding are assisted by matrons and other caretakers but taking care of their property is their own responsibility. If a child learns to be responsible at the age of five, then by the age of 40, they can be trusted with a whole nation! It must be noted that the boarding school you take your five year old to shouldn’t be just because it is known for producing the best results in exams. At that age, passing exams is not the biggest priority. Take them to schools that nurture responsibility and regulation, courtesy and resourcefulness. That is what matter most. So many people went to boarding school and they turned out just fine. The world is tough and it will need a tough individual to get through it. Nothing instills that toughness better than a boarding school.
