TuesdayRayon Sports vs Mauritania 3:30pmNational league champions Rayon Sports take on Mauritania national team in a friendly match on New Year’s Eve at Amahoro national stadium.It is the first international warm-up game for Didier Gomes da Rosa’s team as they prepare for the 2014 Orange CAF Champions League campaign.The Mauritanians, who arrived in the country on December 27, will also use today’s game as part of their preparations for the upcoming CHAN finals in South Africa.Rayon will begin their continental campaign in the second week of February – against the Republic of Congo’s AC Leopards in the preliminary round. The return leg will be played in Kigali a week later.According to Gomes, Tuesday’s match is the first of many that the club is lining up as they plot to shine in Africa’s biggest club competition. The last time Rayon participated in the Champions League was way back in 2005 when they were eliminated so early in the tournament by DR Congo’s Motema Pembe."We want to play a couple of high-level games before we come up against AS Leopard,” said the Frenchman. He said that his team, in high spirits following a run of impressive performances and results in the current domestic league season, needs adequate preparations for CAF Champions League and Cecafa-Kagame Cup championships next year.Rayon Sports lead the local league halfway through the season.
