Grace Gaga Gisubizo is the winner of talent search that was organised by MC Monday at Planet Club in Kimihurura on Friday. Speaking to The New Times after being declared the winner, Gaga, 16, said that she was elated for emerging top in the talent search and promised to do her best to promote the Rwanda music industry."This is the best new year gift that God has given me and I’m very happy to win the talent search. It is now a challenge for me to make use of the opportunity to promote Rwandan music. I thank the organisers for their efforts in scouting for young talent,” said Gaga. She said she started singing when she was only seven and her passion for music has never waned. MC Monday said they would continue supporting emerging music talents as a way of promoting the budding industry. "Rwanda music still faces hurdles because the big corporations are not investing in young talent. They promote already established musicians and this is a sure way of killing the industry because there will be no one to take over once the senior musicians finally call it a day,” noted MC Monday."My main focus is to replace people who have been on the music scene with emerging talent. We must think outside the box that sooner or later, current musicians are going to exit the stage.”A total of 29 young talents registered at the beginning of the exercise, and 15 were shortlisted for the grand finale that was held on Saturday. The winners in different categories will be given three months contracts to record their songs.
