Former Amavubi Stars central defender Jonas ‘Paco’ Nahimana has joined Vietnamese side Quang Nam on a two year-deal, Sunday Sport has learned. His contract with Kenyan side AFC Leopards ended in December and has a free agent.
The ex-Atraco and SC Kiyovu player confirmed the move on Friday, "I thank the staff and the management of Quang Nam F.C for the support and the comfort they gave me during the trials time. I thank the club for believing in me and allowing me to be part of the team after my successful trial period.”
"I would also like to thank my former club AFC Leopards, especially the fans. They have contributed so much to Jonas Pako to get this far and I will forever hold them dear in my heart.
It is sad that I had to leave but in life we always have to embrace change. It is a new beginning with new challenges and in life change is inevitable,” he posted on his official facebook page.
The DR Congo-born centre back, Nahimana first went for trials in the USA with Major League Soccer side FC Dallas in September which fell through after the American side labeled the Kenyan league not professional.
Nahimana was called for the first time in national team under Serbian Sredejovic ‘Micho’ Milutin in February 2012 for the Nation’s Cup qualifier against Nigeria.
