National University of Rwanda and Amagaju are up for a crunch tie this afternoon as the first leg of the Division two semi-finals gets underway.

The varsity side progressed to the semis after beating Zebra 2-0 on aggregate while La Jeunesse saw off Espoir 3-on on goals aggregate.

In the other semi-final, Nyanza take on La Jeunesse. Nyanza reached the semi-finals on the away goal rule against Muhanga whereas Amagaju proceeded to the last four, 4-1 on goals aggregate over Musanze.

Both NUR and Amagaju are being rated as the favorites to get promoted to the topflight division for next season.

"We are going to do our best as this is the last game for us to get the ticket for the top division” NUR head coach Gervais Manirakiza says.

La Jeunesse coach Yves Rwasamanzi is confident going into today’s game against a side they were in the same group in the group stages.

"We know each other well, we are going to play our usual game but we are taking no risks in Nyanza” he said.

The two teams that qualify to the finals are assured of their positions in the next season first division league.
