Are New Year resolutions relevant anymore? (Yes, we need to set goals in life)

The New Year is almost here! Have you started thinking about what your new year’s resolution list is going to be comprised of yet? New year resolutions are more often goals and dreams people set up to make their year more productive; some people argue that that they are pointless. On the contrary, I think New Year resolutions are the most important thing to kick start a year.

The New Year is almost here! Have you started thinking about what your new year’s resolution list is going to be comprised of yet? New year resolutions are more often goals and dreams people set up to make their year more productive; some people argue that that they are pointless. On the contrary, I think New Year resolutions are the most important thing to kick start a year.NewYear’s Eve and Day would not be complete without making a resolution or two, whether one sets these goals to guide their year or for public ratings, like most of our friends who post them on social media sites for attention. New Year resolutions are still an honoured tradition and are a great way to prepare yourself for the year ahead and even put you in the right state of mind to begin a new year with a sense of purpose. It is much more realistic to just set goals, starting small and giving yourself a decent timeframe, rather than just declaring "I am going to quit (or start) in 2014’’.A friend once told me "every dream is achievable, depends on how bad you want it and how much you’re willing to sacrifice”. He said that last year he made a chart of resolutions he wanted to accomplish by the end of this year and hang that chart in his room. Every morning he would wake up and check his wall of resolutions as he evaluated his progress through the year. And he is proud to say this year has been a success thanks to his chart of resolutions that was always a driving force for him to work hard towards accomplishing every single one of them.  While some find them pointless or not necessary these are the very people you find at the end of the year regretting and blaming other people for their shortcomings. Others simply make dramatic resolutions to change their lives, live by them for a few days or even a few weeks then give up on them simply because they were exaggerated and unrealistic in the first place. This new year don’t just write down a list of New Year resolutions; base them on a game plan and work tirelessly to accomplish them. Above everything, a positive mindset is key to attaining success at its heights.
