It was a Red carpet affair as Rwanda’s top celebrities gathered at Tella Vista Hall in Gikondo to meet and interact with their fans on Friday.
The ceremony, that started at 5p.m had musicians, footballers, actors and actresses, and radio personalities. The place was full by 6p.m as celebrities came in small groups. As each celebrity made an appearance, he would proceed to take pictures with his fans and later mingle with them in the hall.
Most fans were smartly dressed for the occasion. All celebrities were asked to share a few words about the day. King James said: "It’s an occasion I use to hear from my fans and know what I can do to best serve them.”
Gospel sensation Patient Bizimana performed for the crowd his hit single "Umenye Neza” which sent all people in attendance in a worshipping mood that could have been mistaken for one of those Holy Spirit filled sessions at Zion Temple.
There were no other performances although the crowd kept screaming for performances from Knowless but it was not to be.
Mc Anita challenged all musicians to be grateful to Inyarwanda for supporting them through their career.
"We wouldn’t be here if we didn’t have the support from the Inyarwanda family. They have been with most of us ever since we started and they are still supporting us,” she said.
Lauren Makuza, the in charge of culture at the Ministry of Sports and Culture, was the Guest of Honour.
He said "It’s a time when we reflect on the progress of the music industry in recent past and together examine the evolution of the entertainment industry in the country.”
"Local musicians have matured, they are more hardworking, and I believe it won’t be long before we see them on the international scene,” he added.
The event was crowned with the awarding of best dressed celebrities.
Singer Queen Cha was the overall winner among the ladies with Liane and actress Kirenga coming in second and third place, respectively. Djibril Bigirimana was voted the Best among the gents with Jean Paul Nsengyumva coming second.
But there were notable absentees, namely; Intore Masamba, Amag The Black, Riderman, Danny Nanone, M Izzo, Jay Polly, among others.
There were also celebrities who came towards the end of the event, such as Alpha Rwirangira, KFM’s Ginty, Mc Monday, among others.
The event ended around 11pm with fans mingling with the stars and continued to party with them till late. Although there were a few glitches like brief power failure, it was a success.
