AN EIGHT-MEMBER students’ guild body at the Nyamasheke-based Kibogora Polytechnic Institute was on Sunday sworn in, pledging to strengthen students’ involvement in the transformation of lives of communities living around the school.
AN EIGHT-MEMBER students’ guild body at the Nyamasheke-based Kibogora Polytechnic Institute was on Sunday sworn in, pledging to strengthen students’ involvement in the transformation of lives of communities living around the school.The committee, which is heading the Kibogora Polytechnic Students Union (KPSU), is the first to be established at the private institution since it was established last year.Emmanuel Musenge, the new guild president, said they will work towards building cordial relationship between students and the management toward a better learning environment.He also pledged to work with local leaders in order to ensure that students actively contribute to local development, especially by lending a helping hand to the most vulnerable individuals within communities around the institution, including orphans and widows."We are committed to achieving our goals,” Musenge said.To ensure that even the most vulnerable students are supported, Musenge said together with his committee colleagues and the university administration they will study modalities of establishing a students’ fund that would support students in difficult situations.The university vice rector, Dr Daria Mukamusoni, urged partnership between students, administration and the guild committee. She promised support to the committee.
