Great performances, breathtaking rhythms and an appreciative crowd made Riderman’s album launch at Petit Stade in Remera, over the weekend worthwhile. The rapper, real name Emery Gatsinzi, shared the stage with several local musicians such as Narrow Crew, Sick City, Jack B, Active Group, NPC, Babli and Pacento, who curtain raised for what became a thrilling night of music and dance. Other artistes who performed were Paccy, King James, Rafiki, Kamichi, Jay Polly, Uncle Austin and Amag The Black, among others.Paccy, a female rapper, who is slowly weaving her way up the music ladder, did not disappoint the highly expectant crowd. She delivered a flawless performance and warmed up the stage for Riderman.The huge turnout must have excited not only the artistes but also sponsors of the show. Riderman’s brand new album, "Igikona”, comprises of 12 new tracks.The 26-year old stormed the stage at 9:40p.m to a rapturous applause, and each time he performed a song, the cheers grew louder. Clad in a robe akin that of the pope, the Primus Guma Guma Superstar 2013 winner did not spend most of his time singing at the microphone but also got down to dance. He later swapped the robe for a black leather outfit. After the show, the Ibisumizi star took time to thank his fans for the support and for turning up huge numbers. "This album is a special dedication to all my fans. I want to reciprocate the love and support you have given me throughout my career. It has not been easy but you stood by me and encouraged me carry on.” He formed his first group UTP in 2006. He later founded a band called Soldier with two other then teenage boys, performing as the group’s lead singer before embarking on a solo career.
