After winning Primus Guma Guma Super Star season III (PGGSS), hip hop star Emery Gatsinzi a.k.a. Riderman, is set to launch his fifth album.
The 12-track album, dubbed "Igikona”, will be launched on December 31 at Petit Stade Remera. Artistes who will perform at the event include Dream Boys, Ama-G the Black, Uncle Austin, King James, Queen Cha, Active Band, Pacy, TBB, Bulldog, M Izzo, Kamichi, Jay Polly and Fireman, among others.
The album contains songs like Turacyakwibuka, Igisumizi, Abanyabirori, Urusaku rw’Amasasu, Nzaba Ntaha, Igikona, Dumburi, Glasses On, Umujura w’Urukundo, Iyaba Byashobokaga, Umusirikare n'Ubutabera bw’Uwiteka, among others.
In an interview with The New Times, Riderman said this will be an evening of ambiance and worthy to remember.
"Since winning PGGSS I have not had a big concert for my fans. I want them to listen to my new songs. Let them just get ready because it is going to be fire,” he said.
The entrance fee will be Rwf,5000 for VIPs and Rwf2,000 for ordinary seats. The concert will start at 4pm.
Riderman was born in 1987 to Etienne Rukwavu and Peruth Kantetere in Bujumbura, Burundi. He is the first of five children born into a devout Christian family. He enjoyed music and poetry writing from an early age, and after attending a Lucky Dube concert at Amahoro stadium, he was inspired to combine these talents to begin a career in hip-hop music.
The 26-year-old formed his first group UTP in 2006. Later, he formed a band called Soldier with two other teenage boys, performing as the group’s lead singer before embarking on a solo career and releasing his first solo album on December 28, 2009.
Riderman has shared a stage with Sean Paul, Mr. Flavour, Elephant Man, Koffi Olomide, Brick and Lace, and Sean Kingston, among others.
