Chinese embassy launches photography contest

The Chinese Embassy in Rwanda has launched a photo contest dubbed “China in the eyes of Rwandans.” According to the embassy, the competition is designed to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The Chinese Embassy in Rwanda has launched a photo contest dubbed "China in the eyes of Rwandans.”According to the embassy, the competition is designed to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries."Rwandans are invited to share with us their impression of China, understanding of Chinese people and perception of Sino-Rwandan friendship through photos,” the embassy said in a statement to The New Times."It could be picture of natural sceneries, people, events, old or new, taken in China or in Rwanda, provided photos are relevant to China, Chinese and Sino-Rwandan friendship.”The contest is open to all Rwandans, regardless of age, profession or country of residence.The winning photos will also be selected for an exhibition on the embassy’s website and at Chinese Embassy.Contestants have until January 5, 2015 to submit up to a maximum of 5 entries. Details of the contest have been posted on the embassy website http://rw.china-embassy.org.Winners will walk away with a variety of prizes that include electronics.In 2012, a similar event attracted over 260 entries from Chinese and Rwandan engineers, experts, volunteers, diplomats in Rwanda. The winning photos were exhibited online and attracted huge audiences both in China and in Rwanda, according to the Chinese embassy.The contest is sponsored by Xinhua News Agency Kigali Bureau, Confucius Institute at University of Rwanda, Rwanda Chinese Association and the Rwanda Right Gauge.
