Right Guards lost to reigning champions Challengers on Sunday to record their worst ever showing in the Sulfo league.

Guards, who won the toss, posted a paltry score of 91 runs, thanks to Challengers’ new signing Evode Mutuyimana who picked five wickets.

Former captain Henry Zzizinga (22) top scored for the Guards. In reply, Challengers lost six wickets before sealing their first win in the league.

Sairum Gopalani led the charge with 29 runs before Srinath Vardhineni (14) guided the champions home with a massive six in the 18th over.

"Although today’s win has no effect to the title race, it is a confidence booster ahead of the forthcoming Utexrwa Cup,” Vardhineni noted.

Challengers moved to seven points while Guards, who lost all their games against Indorwa, Kigali Cricket Club, Young Tigers and Challengers stay rooted at the bottom of the table with one point.

Last year’s runners’ up Young Tigers and Indorwa are in contention for this year’s league.
